A brand new recipe for a brand new beer style. Beer made with fresh fruit. A blood orange IPA. A first for us at GWB.
We got the blood oranges from the St Philips fruit market in Bristol. We were cutting it a little fine as its very near the end of blood orange season.
We decided to peel the skin from the blood oranges (and not our hands) then juice the rest of the orange.
The peel was for the boil, breaking down the skin and extracting that lovely zest orange flavour.
The juice came out with a beautiful reddish hue. Slightly bitter to taste, complimenting the zesty fruity bitterness from the Mosaic & Jest hop bill.
Definitely one to try!
