THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY
At the heart of Frampton Cotterell, is, of course, The Rising Sun. It has been the heart of Frampton Cotterell for decades and welcomes all, including our four-legged friends.
It is one of the few rare independent Real Alehouses left in Bristol.“A superb free house that has been the mainstay of the CAMRA GOOD BEER GUIDE for as long as anyone can remember. A former CAMRA pub of the year, renowned for conversation and conviviality.” (taken from The Good Beer Guide ).
The Rising Sun has now become the Brewery Tap, showcasing our own ales brewed at The Great Western Brewing Company (GWB) just down the road in Hambrook.
We aim to give you a fantastic experience incorporating modern & traditional dining. Food has now become an important part of the reputation at the Rising Sun, the top restaurant has been recently refurbished to give a more modern and sleek experience.

GOOD FOOD BEGINS WITH 5 STARS
At The Rising Sun, we take great pride in creating the ambience, service and menu to suits our customers.
We aim to create a pleasurable dining experience and believe a menu should be a thing of balanced flavours. When creating our menus we carefully consider what’s in season and how we can incorporate these ingredients into our dishes.
Our exceptional flagship Sunday lunch uses only the freshest vegetables and the best cuts of meat, including Slow Roasted Rump steak. (“ The Best Around”, so you tell us).
We have a wide array of dishes with influences from all over the world, alongside our pub classics and a good selection of vegan options. Our menus change Seanonally and sometimes monthly. Please check back here to see whats new.
WE'RE A DOG-FRIENDLY PUB
We welcome four-legged friends at our pub. Water and treats are available on request, we only ask that they are kept on leads with their owner and all 4 paws must stay on the ground, not on the furniture. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in the conservatory or the top room. Only the bar.
